It was a beautiful evening as Maliotis Cultural Center was proud and honored to welcome Professor Nikoletta Tsitsanoudis-Mallidis who presented “Teaching Greek In Times of Crisis – The Challenge.”

Dr. Nikoletta is the Associate Professor of Linguistics and Greek Language at the University of Ioannina. Her presentation discussed how the modern Greek language has responded to the crises that have plagued Greece over the last 13 years. 

The lecture also explored how the modern teacher is called upon to avoid panic and cultivate critical literacy when reading and understanding the texts of the public sphere. 

This event was open to the public and live streamed for those who could not be in attendance. Guests were able to mingle with the professor afterwards with a wine and cheese reception. 

We thank Dr. Nikoletta for making this trip to present on a topic that is so important to the Greek community.
