Saved by Beauty: Dostoevsky in Boston
Join us at Maliotis Cultural Center May 16, 2022 – July 20, 2022 for “Saved by Beauty: Dostoevsky in Boston”, the new international art installation featuring artwork by the Ochre group.

Having toured Greece and New York  at The Sheen Center, the international art installation now premiers in Boston at MCC. “Saved by Beauty” is a tribute to literary legend Fyodor Dostoevsky and the two hundred years since his death. The pieces reflect aspects of the author’s life and struggles as well as characters and scenes from his famous novels. Collectively, these bold works seek to awaken in us a sense of a deeper spiritual reality and a transformative beauty that, as Pope Benedict writing about Dostoevsky said, “unlocks the yearning of the human heart, the profound desire to know, to love, to go towards the Other, to reach for the Beyond.” This exhibit “gives visual expression to characters and existential and moral themes from the novels of Fyodor Dostoevsky through a variety of painting styles by 15 artists of the Ochre Group: Fr. Stamatis Skliris, George Kordis, Bishop Maxim Vasiljevic, Babis Pylarinos, Costas Lavdas, Maria Panou, Giannoulis Lymperopoulos, Nektarios Mamais, Fotis Varthis, Konstantinos Kougioumtzis, Christos Kechagioglis, Nektarios Stamatelos, Despina Karantani, George Margaritis, and Christina Papatheou-Douligeri” (Sebastian Press).
